University of Ilorin Unilorin

The University of Ilorin, or In short Unilorin, is a federally funded university in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. It was founded in August 1975 by a proclamation of the federal military government. The establishment aimed to carry out one of the Third National Development Plan’s educational directives, which aimed to provide more opportunities for Nigerians aspiring to obtain university education and generate high-level manpower, both of which are critical for the country’s rapidly expanding economy. The school, when compared to other higher learning institutions in the country, has one of the largest land expanses, encompassing roughly 15,000 hectares. According to JAMB, it would be the most sought after university in 2021.

The University of Ilorin Unilorin currently enrolls about 50,000 students and has over 500 academic staff.

Currently, unilorin has fifteen (15) faculties.
