UCSD Canvas Features

1. SIMPLIFIED GRADEBOOK: The Gradebook helps instructors easily view and enter grades for students. Grades for each assignment can be viewed as points, percentage, complete or incomplete, GPA scale, or letter grade.
2. CONVENIENT FEEDBACK TOOLS: The primary tool that instructors use for grading is called SpeedGrader, and it can be used to give students feedback (text as well as audio/video comments) on any assignment, online quiz, or graded discussion. Annotation tools are also available for file submission assignments.
3. INSIGHTFUL ANALYTICS: Course analytics will prove useful in determining how students react to course activities; seeing which students are at-risk and need help; and viewing how effective your teaching strategies are with students.
4. ON-THE-GO ACCESS: The Canvas Teacher app allows instructors to manage certain aspects of their course, communicate with students, and grade assignments from Android and iOS devices.
5. Others include: calendar tools, built-in video tools, audio recording tools, speech to text comment, etc.

3. Enter your password
4. Click on the “Login” button to access your canvas dashboard.

How to Login to Canvas UC San Diego Extension

1. Visit https://extensioncanvas.ucsd.edu
2. Click the Click Here to Login button.
3. Enter the email address and password associated with your UC San Diego Extended Studies/MyExtension account.
4. Click LOGIN. If you are authenticated successfully, you’ll be taken to your Canvas Dashboard.

However, the method above will only work if you know both your username and password. 

How to Login to Canvas UC San Diego Extension if you only know the email address and not the password

1. Visit https://extensioncanvas.ucsd.edu
2. Click the Click Here to Login button.
3. Click on Are you a student and forgot your password?
4. Enter the email address associated with your UC San Diego Extended Studies account.
5. Click SUBMIT.
6. Instructions on how to set your password will be emailed to you. Once you receive the email, click on the provided link to set your password.
7. On this page, input your new password and re-enter, then click Submit.
8. If the password reset is successful, you’ll see the Password Updated page. Click on CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE.
9. Now, you can login using your username and your new password.

How to Access your Course from MyExtension

1. If you are already logged in to MyExtension, you can check your course to access Canvas.
2. After logging in to MyExtension, click on My Courses.
3. Click on the course you want to access.
4. Under Online Provider, click the link to access your course content.

How to submit an assignment via canvas UCSD

1. In Course Navigation, click the Assignments link.
2. Click the title of the assignment.
3. Click the Submit Assignment button.
4. Upload your file
5. Then, Click the Submit Assignment button.
